It is no secret that the California Bar Exam has become increasingly difficult to pass. For many candidates, the two-month bar review format is no longer sufficient. The BarPassers Tutorial Program solves this problem by offering candidates a long-term approach - up to 5 months prior to each exam - with unlimited one-on-one and small group interaction, personal guidance and extensive skills training, exam simulation, unlimited grading and feedback.

Tutorial Program Instruction

The Tutorial Program is a full-service course, featuring a substantive review as well as interactive essay, performance test and multistate workshops.

Substantive Review/Essay Writing Workshops

The Tutorial Program prepares candidates for all 3 parts of the California Bar Exam. At the heart of the program are our interactive, 8-hour essay workshops. One workshop is devoted to each subject tested on the exam. Students prepare by listening to our substantive lectures on iPod® and simulating past bar exam questions for discussion in the live, interactive small group sessions.

Performance Test Preparation

Tutorial students attend the BarPassers Performance Test Workshop series in our Bar Review Course in order to learn our specially designed attack plans and simulate the performance test. A special Performance Test Intensive session is also included in the Tutorial Program so that students have an opportunity to simulate additional exams in-class and interact with professors to identify and correct performance test problem areas.

Multistate Bar Exam (MBE)

The Tutorial Program also features our specially designed Multistate Techniques Review, a multi-session skills workshop focusing on the multiple- choice section. It is an essential portion of the program, helping students to identify testable areas of law, common pitfalls and specific problem areas within each subject on the MBE.

Exam Simulation, Grading & Evaluation

Practice is a key element of the Tutorial Program. Students follow the rigorously paced Tutorial Testing Program, a series of in-class and at-home practice sessions wherein nearly 100 exams are assigned for grading and individual evaluation, but may submit an unlimited number of exams. There are more than 200 past bar exam essay and performance test questions with model answers and over 4200 MBE questions available. In addition, students may attend all or part of the 3-Day Simulated Bar Exam offered in our Bar Review Course.

One-on-One Interaction

Individual periodic conferences with your program professor or grading coordinator may be arranged as often as needed to address your individual needs, including problems with substantive law, essay approach/technique and evaluation, performance test technique/problem areas and MBE.

Tutorial Program Materials

The Tutorial Program utilizes copyrighted materials designed and written by our bar review experts to address substantive law, exam writing skills for both the essay and performance test sections and multiple-choice techniques.

Essay Preparation
  • SUBSTANTIVE LAW OUTLINES and LECTURES on audio CD explaining the testable areas of law for all 14 subjects tested on the California Bar Exam.
  • FLOWCHARTS presenting the fundamental principles for each subject in a visual framework to assist students with substantive organization, comprehension, and retention as well as essay writing approach.
  • COURSE MATERIALS & SIMULATED BAR EXAM volume and accompanying Essay Writing Workshop audio CD'S containing writing instruction and past bar exam essay questions for each subject.
  • Specially designed TUTORIAL PROGRAM BINDER containing written materials, including past bar exam essay questions for both in-class use and at-home simulation.
  • CALIFORNIA ESSAY WORKBOOK and current MATERIALS UPDATE piece containing over 180 recent California Bar Exam essay questions with issue outlines and model answers written by our bar review experts.
Performance Test Preparation
  • PERFORMANCE TEST WORKBOOK and our specially designed Tutorial Program materials for the Performance Test Intensive portion of the program.
  • PERFORMANCE TEST WORKSHOP MATERIALS, including five performance tests for in-class simulation and four additional performance tests to simulate at home.
  • Individual ATTACK PLANS for identifying and drafting the documents likely to be tested on the performance test portion of the exam.
MBE Preparation
  • MULTISTATE PRACTICE QUESTIONS & SIMULATED BAR EXAM volume and our specially designed Tutorial Program materials for the Multistate Techniques Review.
  • A complete set of MULTISTATE WORKSHOP MATERIALS including over 4000 multiple-choice practice questions expertly designed to simulate the actual MBE. Tutorial students also receive the six BarPassers MBE Workshops on iPodŽ and a multistate software download.
